

Eugene “Bud” Riley passed away peacefully on February 19, 2013 with his wife by his side. He was born April 15, 1928 in Butte, Montana to Bud and Lucille Riley. The family later moved to Wallace, Idaho and then to Sandpoint, Idaho. Bud enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1945 and served in the Korean War. After his discharge in 1952 he went to work for Northern Lights, Inc and later met his wife, Mary Lou. In 1960 they moved to Eureka where he went to work for Arcata Plywood and a short time later he went to work for the City of Eureka where he worked until his retirement. Bud was a life member of the Eureka Elks Lodge 652 and the US Marine Corp League.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, his 3 children: Shawn Riley, Mark Riley and Tammy Burton, grandchildren: Samantha Riley, Brian (Janet) Susmilch, Matthew Susmilch, Breanne Riley and Shawna Riley, his great grandchildren: Josiah and Elijah Susmilch. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Loretta and Jim Wilson and Frank and Judy Ferraro, whom he enjoyed spending time with, and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Bud & Lucille Riley and his brother Bill Riley.
The family would like to thank the St Joseph Hospital staff and especially the staff at Granada Healthcare.
An Elks Service and Celebration of Life will be held Sat, March 2 at the Eureka Elks Lodge 445 Herrick Ave at 11:30 AM.
