Glenn Councilman

Glenn was born to Roy and Marian Councilman on March 13, 1928 in Riverside, CA, and passed away on July 17th 2011 in Eureka, CA. How does one describe the life of Glenn Councilman? He was an abalone diver, commercial fisherman, party boat captain, ship captain with 100 ton license which he earned at the age of 19. He was 18 when he earned his small airplane pilots license. He was a proud Merchant Marine, recently accepted for the North Coast Harbor Flight. He was a avid hunter, hunting guide, and a gun connoisseur who loaded his own ammunition. He also created custom made knives and was an avid photographer. Glenn worked 28 years as a lineman/troubleman for PG&E in Willow Creek and later became an electrical contractor. He was also a gardener, collector of "things", a barterer and he loved to talk. He was a member of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Humboldt Bay Chapter, Redwood Gun Club, a life time member of the NRA and Fram #13, Sons of Norway. He was fiercely independent, generous to a fault and lived a life well spent. He leaves behind three brothers and one sister, his children Marsha Councilman (Hawkins Bar), Joe (Debbie) Councilman, Trinity Center, CA, Mark (Pam) Councilman, Council, ID, Deby (ED) Hansen, Salyer, CA, Step daughters Greta Daniels (Chris Jager), Trinidad, CA, and Erica (Keith) Ervin, McKinleyville, CA, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his special friend of 33 years, Carol Daniels. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 pm, July 23, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church, South and Prospect Streets (across from Alice Birney School), Eureka, CA.
