

Old Timber Faller Has Fallen
Corky was born November 26, 1930 in Knowles, Oklahoma. He passed away October 21, 2010 in Eureka, California at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his birth parents Lloyd Whitaker of Oklahoma and Georgia McAtee of Illinois; parents Billie and Lewis McAtee; and siblings Laura Lewis and Glen Whitaker. He is survived by his siblings Mary Hoffman and Florence Roberts of Wichita, Kansas, Nadine Street of North Bend, Oregon, and Pete McAtee of Greenville, California; his children Darell Whitaker of Anchorage, Alaska, Dana Whitaker of Orick, California, and Dennis and Susan Whitaker of Redding, California; and grandchildren Brett, Bailey and Shane. Corky served in the U.S. Navy entering the service in 1947. He later became a timber faller was a very dedicated worker in the timber industry where he worked for over 45 years. He enjoyed deer hunting and was known for his "prankster" personality. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. At his request no services will be held.
