Passed away early in the morning of January 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital. Ray was born in Eureka, California on January 2, 1933, the son of Harold and Delberta (Stapp) Lamoreaux. He grew up in Showers Pass east of Eureka and called Humboldt County home even when serving as an artilleryman with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict and in Cold Weather Troops in Alaska from 1960 to 1964. He worked for the City of Eureka Public Works Department for 25 years until retirement. For the past ten years he resided at the Silvercrest Senior Residential Complex in Eureka. Ray's knowledge of family history in Humboldt County and his ability to recount those events was enjoyed by family and friends. He is survived by his sister Beverly Drake of Willow Creek, California and his brother Wayne Lamoreaux of Fresno, California. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard and sister Jean. He most loved spending time with extended Lamoreaux and Stapp families and had many adoring uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Ray was a kind and generous man and was loved and will be missed by all.
