October 8, 1921 - August 4, 2013
Robert Pierre Crivello, Sr. entered this world October 8, 1921 in San Francisco, CA. He passed peacefully at home following a lengthy illness, bravely fought, and surrounded by family.
Son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, athlete, soldier, businessman, and always the fighter, Robert Sr. ventured through life a proud and honest man doing everything...His way!
Growing up in Long Beach, CA, Robert Sr. attended Woodrow Wilson High School where he was the quarterback of the varsity football team. At the outbreak of World War II he volunteered for the Army and served in the Philippine Islands. Following the war he married Beatrice Galletta on June 26, 1947 – a marriage of 66 years produced five children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Robert Sr. started in the automobile business in San Francisco where he operated three businesses before relocating the family to Eureka, CA. in 1956. He was always very proud of the success of his effort to change “the image" of the used car dealer. His first marketing decision was to change the common term "used cars" to "fine cars," thus Bob's Fine Cars, a first. As a result of hard work, integrity and honesty his business plan is still a success after 52 years. Robert Sr. retired in 1973 and the business continues to this day as a landmark at its’ original Broadway location under the ownership of Robert Jr., and more recently with the addition of a third generation, Peter-John Crivello.
During their retirement Beatrice and Robert Sr. enjoyed many years golfing, hunting, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling. Many special times were spent at their summer home at Trinity Lake, where, over the years, they were fortunate to have enjoyed the company of numerous great friends and neighbors.
Robert Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Henreitta Crivello, his brothers Tony, Ray, and Joe, and beloved son Peter. He leaves behind his sister Helena Youngson, beautiful wife Beatrice, children Robert Jr. and wife Susan, Linda Brisbin and husband Brad, Gary Crivello, Deboragh Hamblin and husband Dean, grandchildren Sicily Benzinger and husband Mark, Peter-John Crivello, Travis Hamblin, Courtney Petersen and husband Wade, Molly Plummer and husband Matt, Brandy Crivello, and Caylin Crivello, great grandchildren Paydin Hamblin, Kyla and Bodie Benzinger, and Jacquelynn Plummer.
