Sabina Quizon Miranda McGuire went to be with the angels on January 8, 2011. She was born on November 3, 1926, in the Philippine Islands to Julian Miranda and Catalina Quizon Miranda. She lost her mother at a very young age, so she was raised by her great-uncle and aunt Constancio Gutierrez and Fransisca Angeles Gutierrez, who were highly respected land owners in that area. "Benie", as she was known by loved ones, always retained her love of the tropics, and had a "green thumb" in the garden. She met the love of her life, David Frank McGuire Junior, while working in the US Air Force offices. They married and had four children before moving to Japan and later to California in 1967. Sabina was an excellent cook and a fastidious housekeeper. As such, she worked for many years caring for the priests at Our Lady of the Assumption in Carmichael, and at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville. Her gourmet cooking skills seemed to continually attract traveling priests from all over the parish to the luncheon table. In 1992 she moved to McKinleyville to be near her son, Frank. Sabina is survived by her eldest son, Frank McGuire and his wife Dianne of McKinleyville; her daughter, Betty McGuire of Sidney, Montana; and by her younger sons, Tommy McGuire of Spokane, Washington, and Bobby McGuire of Antioch, California. She is survived by two grand daughters, Sara McGuire Wisher and Jennifer McGuire; two great-grandchildren, Emilia and Sophia Wisher; as well as Frank and Dianne's grandchildren, Parker and Morgan Mays. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Esther Samia, Aning deLeon, and Levy Rodriguez of the Philippines; and several nieces and nephews. Especially dear to her were Cora, Vicki, and Beth. She will be missed by her caring friends at Mad River Adult Day Care Center and Granada Skilled Nursing Facility who were very kind to her. At Sabina's request, no services will be held. However, friends are welcome to leave messages on the Times-Standard website www.Times-Standard.com and at www. piercemortuarychapels.com.
