Born on July 27, 1946, in Evansville, Alan was the son of the late Carl H. Feldhaus and Irene (Humpert) Feldhaus. He was a proud graduate of Mater Dei High School, Class of 1964. Shortly after graduation, Alan enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably from June 1964 to July 1967.
Following his military service, Alan known as "Big Al" or "Sauerkraut" began a long and dedicated career at Whirlpool Corporation in November 1967, working as an Assembler until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
Alan was an active member of the Evansville Athletic Club and enjoyed participating in recreational sports, particularly basketball and softball. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and was their #1 fan, always cheering them on with pride. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially spot shoots with his good friends.
A devout Catholic, Alan was a lifelong member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and Holy Redeemer Parish. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he rarely missed attending Mass.
Alan shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife of 49 years, Norma Louise Feldhaus, and together they raised two daughters, enjoying family camping trips and bus tours later in life. He treasured the memories they made traveling together, especially in retirement.
Alan is survived by his loving daughters, Tara Feldhaus and Trisha Emge (Gregg); cherished grandchildren, Zackary and Emily Emge; sisters, Carol Epley, Mary Ellen Christian (Cliff), and Janice Wicks; brothers, Marvin Feldhaus (Judy), Wayne Feldhaus (Rosie), Tom Feldhaus (Marleen), Larry Feldhaus (Ann Marie), and Dennis Feldhaus (Scarlett); sister-in-law, Barbara Summers (Wayne); and many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will deeply miss his kind spirit and steady presence.
