A proud 1966 graduate of Reitz High School, Alanna married the love of her life, Charles “Charlie” Welch, shortly after graduation.
Alanna had a huge heart and everybody loved her. She enjoyed playing Bunco and Bingo, never passed up a good shopping trip or flea market find, and found joy in simple pleasures like butterflies and adult coloring books. Her greatest treasures, though, were her grandbabies and great-grandbabies, they were truly her whole world.
A fan of all the courtroom TV judges (especially Judge Judy), Alanna never missed an episode. She was also an incredible baker, so much so that her Cowboy tried to convince her to open a bakery, but she always said no. When she cooked, she cooked big enough for an army, and their famous “garbage can parties” were a beloved family tradition.
Alanna is survived by her only daughter, Tammy Welch; cherished grandchildren, Kassidy Claude and Kady Claude; and her adored great-grandchildren, “Lil” Charlie Claude, Payzley Claude, and Carter Cullen. She is also survived by her brother, Alan Hooe (Rose); nephew, Nick Hooe (Janna); niece, Stephanie Dawson (Jason); and great-nieces and nephews, Samuel Stone and Olivia Hooe, and Jack Dawson and Nora Dawson. She leaves behind many dear friends, including Zelma Chappell, Peggy Sills, Sharon Wilder, Charlie Wolfinger, Wayne Johnson, Mark and Evie “Devie” Guetling, and many others who will miss her deeply.
She was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 44 years, Charles “Charlie” Welch; her parents, Ivan and Florence (Schofield) Hooe; her infant twin sister, Alane Hooe; great-nephew, Andrew Hooe, close friend and fellow Cowboy, John Chappell.
Per Alanna’s wishes, no formal services will be held. She will be laid to rest beside her Cowboy at Alexander Memorial Park.
In honor of Alanna, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation (AKF).
