Alita C. James, 70, Evansville, passed away January 27, 2021 at Golden Living Woodlands due to complications of Covid. She was born in Evansville, IN to the late Raymond and Martha Ruth (Tryon) Ash Sr.
Alita attended Bethany Christian Church and served as a deaconess, participated in bible study groups and attended the Loyal Men and Women’s Sunday School Class. She was a Bosse High School graduate Class of 1968. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital after working for 9 years as a Supervisor of Patient Records. She also was employed at 5/3rd Bank, Lamasco Branch for 14 years.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. Through her family, her memory will live on.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen M. James I, three brothers: Raymond Jr., Donald and Ronald Ash, parents: Raymond Sr. and Martha Ash; and mother-in-law: Phyllis A James.
Alita is survived by her children and spouses: Stephen M (II). and Brushess James of Chandler, Amy R. (James) Rojas of Evansville, Teya A. (James) and David Manley of La Vergne, TN., Terry K. (James) and Greg Roberts of Evansville, and Joan R. (James) Bruce of Evansville; her 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Gary and Yvonne Ash of Boonville; Karen Alwardt of Illinois.
A Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2021 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Steve Cox, with final resting place in Locust Hill Cemetery.
