He was a Respiratory Therapist for 32 years working at many Midwest Hospitals, retiring from the University of Southern Indiana as an instructor of Respiratory Therapy. He loved fishing and spending time with family and friends at Lake Barkley. Tony loved nothing more than being with his grandchildren and just being their “Opa”.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 41 years Mary Anne (McCallister) Schmitt; sons, Curtis Schmitt (Shelley), Jan-Hendrick Wittenberg (Farina), Brent Schmitt (Jaclyn); daughter, Jenna Schmitt (Taron); grandchildren, Liam, Justus, Sophia, Aliyah, Carter, Amanda, and Cora.
Private family services will be held with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
