He graduated from Reitz High School, Class of 1962 and went on to serve in the Army Reserve immediately after graduating. He also helped his father with his Coca Cola route. Benny worked his way up from a mail carrier at Citizen’s Bank to Vice President of 8th Floor downtown at 5/3 Bank. He retired in 2000. Benny enjoyed coin collecting, model trains, golfing, and creek fishing.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jerry Young.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Edna May Young; daughters, Debra Simpson and Sheila Whitaker (Jim); grandchildren, Angel Jackson (LB), Shaina Minten (Mike), Mackenzie Hildebrandt (Justin), Jordan Shoemaker, and Jeremy Shoemaker; ten great grandchildren; and siblings, Arlene Meyer and Phyllis Kohlman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
