Bertha Thurston

Bertha graduated from Reitz High School. She was a bookkeeper and retired from Black Equipment Company in 1988 after 21 years. She attended Fairlawn United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. “Jack” Thurston; parents, Gilbert and Esther (Peck) Maidlow; her sisters, Rebecca Niehaus and Alice Wherry; her brother, Leland Maidlow; and son-in-law, James Belcher.

Bertha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Margarita Thurston of St. Charles, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Steven Gorczyca of Canton, GA; daughter, Jane Belcher of Evansville; grandchildren, Neil Thurston, Merrica (Thurston) Schell, Meghan (Belcher) Pawlowski, Emily (Belcher) Hurless, and Rebecca McGehee; great-grandchildren, Ava Pawlowski, Genevieve Pawlowski, Liam Pawlowski, Aidan Pawlowski, Remington Schell, Wesley Schell, and Samuel Hurless; sisters, Martha Kissel of Evansville and Sandra Southard of Glendale, AZ.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 12-Noon until service time at the funeral home.
