

Bette Lee (Butsch) Spray of La Grange Park, Illinois passed away on January 13, 2024, at the age of 100. She was born on October 10, 1923, in Evansville, Indiana to the late William and Louise (Kuester) Butsch.
Bette attended Highland School through the fifth grade, Trinity Lutheran School from sixth through eighth grade, and graduated from Central High School in 1941. She worked for many years in her mother’s grocery store and then worked at a defense plant during World War II as a bullet inspector. She also had an office job at the LST shipyard in Evansville. In 1945, Bette married her husband Eugene three months after meeting him at a dance. She then worked at Whirlpool and at the infant department at Sears up until her first child, Donna, was born in 1946. Her second child, Jennifer, was born in 1966.
Bette was a talented seamstress and volunteered at the American Cancer Society for many years. Bette then went on to work 25 years at Alexander Funeral Home starting in 1988.
Bette is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Eugene Spray; sister, Patricia Smith and brother, Billy Butsch and nephews Douglas Smith and Mark Smith.
Bette is survived by daughters, Donna Lee Spray and Jennifer Flores (Martin); grandchildren, Sara Spray, Molly Camargo (Daniel), Chaltu Spray, Emily Flores,
Laura Flores and Grace Flores; great granddaughter, Isabella Camargo; sister-in-law, Sherry Butsch and nieces Patti Steele (Scott) and Janet Burnett (Darren).
The family would like to thank Plymouth Place, Home Helpers and Angels Grace Hospice for the care and compassion they provided.
Private services for family will be held.
