

Burke Roy Edwards, 64, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. He was born on October 16, 1956, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to the late Edward Burke and Shirley (Tanner) Edwards.
Burke grew up in Palatine, Illinois where he attended Palatine High School. He was a successful gymnast on the Pommel Horse. He was also the Captain of his Quiz Bowl Team. Burke was a graduate of Butler University. He was an airline Captain first for TWA and then American Airlines. He loved tinkering with old cars, puttering in the garage and his basement workshop, where he worked on washing machines, steam engines and reconstruction of electric fans.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Burke is survived by his husband, Tim Black of Evansville; sister, Stephanie Edwards of Madison, Wisconsin; and Tim’s parents, Edward and Judy Black of Coldwater, Kentucky.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, per his wishes, and his ashes will be scattered over Lake Erie, near his hometown of Pennsylvania.
