

He was a member of Local #20 Sheet Metal Workers Union and a longtime commercial fisherman. He was a member of AMVETs, Riverbend Association and Westside Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was an avid gardener and winemaker.
Those who knew Charlie will tell you he could make you laugh. He loved to dance and enjoyed life. He could fill a room with laughter and always remembered a face. He enjoyed being with family and friends, the river was his home.
Charles is survived by sons, James “Jimmy” Elder, Brandon Elder, Charlie Duckworth; daughter, Tammy Elder; daughter-in-law, Lisa Elder who cared for him; sisters, Mary Hayden, Sharon Barnes; brother, Herb “Junie” Elder; granddaughters, Jaclyn Burton, Alisa Elder, Chloe Duckworth; grandsons, Treavor Burton, Devin Elder, Zachary Beal, Jay Burton, Jr.; five nieces and twelve nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kim Wells from River of Life Church, with burial at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday, March 23, 2012, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home; and from 11:00AM until service time on Saturday.
