

He was a welder for Bucyrus-Erie for 44 years. He was a member of the VFW 1114 and served in the US Army during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart, 3 bronze stars and a variety of others. Charles loved going to church and was a 12 year member of the Harwood Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, James & Bessie Ruby; grandson, Thomas Ruby and sisters, Bonnie, Lois, & Dixie.
Charles is survived by his wife of 18 years, Joan Ruby, Evansville; sons, Charles E. Ruby, Jr. (Louetta), Kim Edward Ruby (Sheila), Evansville; daughters, Dianna Ruby, Evansville, Dana Schroeder (Donald), Hatfield, IN; step-daughter, Darla Rhoades (Jerry); step-son, Michael Smith (Theresa); sister, Nola Wright, Santa Claus, IN; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00AM, Friday, August 24, 2012, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Karl Crowe with entombment at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Friends may visit, Thursday, August 23, 2012, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and Friday, from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
