

Charlotte Ann (Hinton) Embry, 70, of Evansville, went home to be with her heavenly father and loving family waiting for her with open arms on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. She was born November 20, 1942, in Spencer County, IN to the late Lewis and Daisy “Withers” (Garrett) Hinton.
On March 24, 1961, she married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” E. Embry, who was not only her life mate for 44 years, but also her best friend. She was a 1960 graduate of Rockport High School and went on to fulfill her high school dream of going to Beauty College. She was a hair dresser for many years in the Rockport area before retiring and moving to the Santa Claus area. After several years of retirement, she joined her husband as a guard at the Branchville Prison Center, were they both retired from.
Charlotte and Chuck were very special grandparents, raising three of their oldest as their own, Sarah and Nikki Little and Christopher Embry. She was also a loving and caring wife, taking care of her husband during his long illness before his passing in July of 2005.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Edgar Ray Hinton, who passed away in 1962 while in the service; half-brothers, Wayne and Leroy Garrett, Charles William Hinton and Baby Boy Hinton, who passed away in 1932 at only nine months old; half-sisters, Mary Ruth Garrett, Gwendolyn “Dee” (Hinton) Green, Anna “Tiny” (Hinton) Edomm and Marlene (Hinton) Thomas; and step-grandchild, Jeremy Embry.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Kelly Malone and husband, Jim, of Owensboro, KY and Holly Warner and husband, Benjamin, of Shelbyville, IN; step-children, Lynnette Board and Edward Embry and wife, Pattie, both of Cloverport, KY; grandchildren, whom she loved beyond words, Sarah (Little) Shepherd and husband, Bobby, of Evansville, with whom Charlotte made her home, Nikki Little and girlfriend, Nikki Ringham, of Owensboro, KY, Heather Bass of Dubois County, IN, Christopher Embry, Jessica Layman, Wesley Layman and Austin Warner, all of Shelbyville, IN; step-grandchildren, Amy and Robert Board, Jr. of Irvington, KY, Emily (Embry) Smith and husband, Brandun, of Hardinsburg, KY, JD Malone of Owensboro, KY, Dylan and Alyssa Warner, and Lacey (Warner) Simpson and husband, Brett, all of Henderson, KY; and 12 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her extended family, who thought of her as a sister, brother-in-law, Dan Embry of Chrisney, IN; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sue Embry of Reo, IN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and JW Hall and Becky and Richard Middleton, all of Newtonville, IN.
Services will be 7:00 PM Friday, July 19, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
