

Christof “Opa” Biegel, 71, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born May 16, 1946, in Seligenstadt, Germany to the late Reinhard and Luise (Herr) Biegel.
Christof served on the border police for West Germany. After his duty was completed, he started working in the textile industry. In 1981, Christof married Victoria Mendoza, his pen pal from the Philippines. In 1989, his work in textiles led him to the United States. He lived and worked in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Upon retirement in 2012 as the Knitting Department Supervisor at Julius Zorn, Inc., Christof and Victoria moved to Evansville to be near family. He spent his time gardening and being a loving Opa to his two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother.
Christof is survived by his wife of 36 years, Victoria (Mendoza) Biegel; daughter, Christina Edwards, and husband Geoff; grandchildren, Benjamin and Simon; and a brother and sister in Germany.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Alex Zenthoefer. Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
