

He served in the US Air Force during WWII as a poilot flying B-24 Bombers and was stationed in Italy. He was a Tool & Die Maker and Plastics Engineer. He was an avid fisherman, great husband, father, and grandfather with a great sense of humor. Claude was a very talented handyman and liked raising his prized tomatoes.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Emit and Vesta Burris; two brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillie D. (Cunningham) Burriss; daughter, Barbara Ann Burriss Walker of Newburgh, IN; son, Gary Lee Burriss and wife, Nancy, of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Natalie, Eric and Nickolas Burriss and Jacob Walker and wife, Maggie Burns; and great-grandchildren, Jesse and Leo.
Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at American Baptist East, 6300 Washington Avenue, officiated by Pastor Jeff Stratton, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
