Dale and Margie Wilke met when she was 14 and babysitting for his sister, Jean. They married in 1951 and celebrated 72 years of marriage this past December. Dale was a Central High School class of 1949 graduate. He spent two years at Mechanic Arts where he began his skills with sheet metal. In 1952 he proudly served his country in Korea with the U.S. Army. When he returned home he continued with his sheet metal work until he retired in 1994. Dale was awarded a 70 year plaque from Sheet Metal Local 20.
He enjoyed traveling, playing clabber with family and friends, and piddling around the house and garage. Dale was an elder and 74 year member of Westside Christian Church, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1114. He went on an Honor Flight in 2016 with his brothers-in-law, Charles and Millard Wilke. Dale was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 25 years.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Center for the love and care he received over the past six weeks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margie; children, Eric (Diana) and Ellen (Tim); grandchildren, Luke (Laura), Kyle, and Megan; and great grandson, Owen Dale. Dale is also survived by his brother, Ned; and many nieces and nephews.
