He was a Vietnam Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 111 and the VFW Post 15018.
David enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, R.C. McDaniel; sister, Delores G. Wilcox; brother, Coleman Lee “Buddy Mac” McDaniel; and step-father, Jim Simmons.
David is survived by his mother, Velda Simmons; sisters, Mary Helen Schutte, Brenda O’Nan, Wanda June Strong, Kay McDaniel, Doye Marie McDaniel; brother, Thomas Richard McDaniel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Brother Dane Gray with burial at Smith Mills Cemetery where Military Honors will be held. Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel and from noon until service time on Saturday.
