I was sorry to hear of your family's loss.  I only met David a handful of times at derby events, usually keeping a watchful eye on Oliver as he explored.  I hope the memories you all share bring some comfort to your hearts.  Ohana

I went to school with his son Ian for many years at EDS, and over that time, I came to get to know Mr. Sponseller through the many chats we would have at chess club meetings, on school trips, and even around town on occasion. He was always quite nice, and it was clear to me that he cared a lot about those around him. I really feel for the family right now. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Sponseller Family,

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. David possessed a one-of-a-kind spirit and was a truly valued friend throughout the years as Grace and Ian grew up in the Suzuki program.  We always enjoyed talking to David at the various recitals, group lessons and performances.  He was generous with his time and provided us with some great memorable photos over the years. We feel fortunate to have gotten to know him. He will be deeply missed.

A message to say that I ll miss him a lot. He was always here on the sofa when we would arrive even late. Every time I would come mostly for Thanksgiving or the eclipse, he would talk to me about things since my last visit; for example, he would show me  recordings of Ian's performances that I  enjoyed very much.  He always had something nice to tell me and I could feel his love very much. I am praying for him and his family.

We will always remember David's happy personality and talking with him at chess and other EDS events. He was a joy to be around and was always very proud of his family.  He left many good memories for our family.
