

Don will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, a talented engineer, passionate businessman and an avid golfer. He was an Eagle Scout and lived by the scout law throughout his life. He was also a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church. He loved working on cars particularly his antique 1957 Thunderbird.
He graduated from Bosse High School in 1951 and earned a Civil/Structural Engineering degree from the University of Evansville (class of 1957) where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and was employed during college at International Steel Company. After obtaining his Professional Engineer’s License, he owned and operated Mills-Wallace & Associates serving the Midwest with building design services for over 40 years.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Nunley Mills; daughter, Cathy Maglinger; and brothers, Bob Mills and Jack Mills.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara C. Mills of Evansville; son, Rick Mills (Karen); daughter, Sheri Mills; son, Tony Brown (Sharon); daughter, Laurie Browning (Dale); sisters, Pat Rafferty (Richard) and Sandy Wooley (Basil); sister-in-law, Louise Mills and many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Brad Maglinger (Meredith), Jennifer Banning (Kevin), David Mills, Matthew Browning (Amelia), Nathan Browning (Carrie), Heather Ditto, Dustin Browning (Heather), and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to each and every caregiver, aid and nurse who administered loving care and kindness to Don during the past seven years.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Pastor Steve Claspell, with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
