

Dorothy May (Ommart) Sander, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at West River Health Campus. Born on August 19, 1940, in Evansville, to the late John Sr. and Ethel (Ours) Ommart.
A proud graduate of Central High School, class of 1959, Dorothy dedicated her life to family and community. She was a devoted member of Isis Temple No. 41, Daughters of the Nile, where she embraced the values of friendship and service. Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending summers at her beloved home on Kentucky Lake. A true sports enthusiast, she was a loyal fan of the Evansville Aces and loved cheering for her local teams.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Donald Wayne Sander; her precious granddaughter, Ava Elizabeth Curtis; her dear aunt, Marie Louise Ours; and her brothers-in-law, Mel and Ava Lou Sander, and Allen and Julie Sander.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by her daughter, Danica Curtis (John); her son, Derek Sander (Rachel); her grandchildren, Jordan Crawford (Josh), Daniel Sander, and Danielle Sander; and her great-grandchildren, Brantley Barclay and Stella Davis; her nephews, Mike Sander (Jane) and Dale Sander (Ronda) whose visits she cherished; cousin, Nancy Davis (Steve), and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Zoar Church, 4600 Church Road, officiated by Pastor Shane McGrath. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Alexander Memorial Park.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
