Edna Ellen Lynch

Edna Ellen Lynch, 89, of Evansville, entered into the presence of her Savior on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at North River Health Campus. She was born in Boonville to the late Edson and Iona (Jarrett) Lynch. She graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing in 1950. She worked at Deaconess Hospital in the ER after graduation and then became the night shift supervisor. She found that she enjoyed working with the students and became an instructor at Deaconess School of Nursing. She later became the director of the school, then advancing to the vice president of nursing at the hospital. She taught nursing at IUPUI for 10 years, retiring in 1993. Edna was a member of Olivet Community Church, where she served as an elder and beloved teacher for 25 years. She loved Jesus and she loved her family and positively influenced countess others through her life and career. Edna was preceded in death by sisters, Lillian Gentry, Mary Jane Williams and Margaret Batson. She is survived by caregivers and nieces, Kay Collins of Boonville, Janet Thomas (Greg) of Evansville and Mary Medcalf (Rich) of Boonville; 16 other nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be 11:00AM, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Olivet Community Church, 5600 Oak Hill Road, officiated by Pastor Dave Mills with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be a graveside service at 2:30PM. Friends may visit 4:00 to 8:00PM, Friday, May 11, 2018 and Saturday from 9:00AM to service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Olivet Community Church or Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship.
