Born on July 7, 1977, Erika is the cherished daughter of Eric and Jolita Fields, who continue to hold her close in heart. From the moment she arrived, Erika brought joy, humor, and a spirit that could not be contained. She lived her life with passion, courage, and the kind of energy that filled every room she entered.
Erika is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved life-partner, Pierre Johnson, and her treasured sister, Tyna Moss — bonds that will never be broken, not even by time or distance.
She leaves behind her greatest pride and joy: her two sons, Marquis Fields and Malyk Johnson, who will carry forward her strength and her laughter. She is also lovingly survived by her daughter-in-law Tailon Johnson, and her two precious grandchildren, Braxxtyn and Braylee Johnson, who brought sunshine into her every day. Erika looked forward with joy to welcoming her future daughter-in-law, Hannah, into the family.
Her love extended through every branch of her family tree — including her sister Aletta Fields-Thomas and brother-in-law Darius Thomas, her niece and nephew Avion and D’Merije Thomas, her brother Edward Fields, her Mamaw Mrs. Vera Gilbert, her niece, Y'Shara Moss, and her great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless family members and friends. Each of them will forever carry a piece of her heart.
Erika also found companionship, warmth, and love in life with Jerry Gish, who brought comfort and happiness to her soul.
She loved fiercely. She cared deeply. She celebrated loudly. Family and friends alike will remember Erika’s overwhelming personality — her laugh that could shake the walls, her ability to lift others up even when she struggled, and the way she made every person feel valued and loved. She was the kind of woman who showed up — for her kids, for her family, for her people — no matter what.
Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and unforgettable presence. To know Erika was to feel seen, supported, and encouraged. Though her physical journey has ended, her spirit remains bright — woven into the memories and hearts of everyone she touched.
May she rest in eternal peace, wrapped in the love she gave so freely.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Erika.
