I'm sorry to hear about your mother's death. I remember how hospitable she was when we were planning our trip to Washington. I have great memories of your family, our rooming together at C.M.U. and our trip out west.

We are saddened for you at Grandma G's passing, however we rejoice to know she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior.  We pray that in the days and weeks that pass you will find comfort and peace in the memories you have tucked away. You will continue to be in our prayers.

To Evelyn's Daughters,
             
             I just wanted you to know that I think your mom is one of the sweetest people I have ever met.  I first knew Evelyn as the very independant woman who didn't want help, and I was little nervous about going into her apartment the first time. She was, in fact, very independant and very strong... but on that first day I started asking questions about pictures I saw on her walls, and she started talking about her husband and completely lit up with a smile.  We walked up and down the hallway and into the living room, and she told me all about how they met, their travels, and their love of birds.  It made her so happy to talk about your dad, and it made me smile to see her reliving some very happy memories. 
       That's what it's all about.... at the end of the day, all any of us have are the "moments" and the "memories".  For your mom, looking at her life story made her so incredibly happy.  Talking about you girls, that filled her heart up and she could barely contain the pride.  When she talked about her life, she was proud and she was very grateful for all the stories and trips, adventures and love..... she was filled, and she was happy with how her life had played out.
      I say all of that, to say this.  I do not feel sad for your mom, because in the year that I knew her, she never felt sad for herslef.  She missed her husband, that was clear....but she was very aware of what a beautiful and long love they had shared.  And now, they are arm and arm again, and I know that there is no reason to be sad for her because it is what she wanted most.  
      For you girls, I just want to say this.  Watching you with your mom, it just completely filled my heart up.  I saw you girls stop everything, to come sit beside your mom when she needed you.  I cannot imagine how hard that must of been watch her struggling, and I said a prayer each night of those final weeks that you girls would be okay.  It brings tears to my eyes to even think of having to be at that place with my mom.  I wished their was something I could have done to help.... and if ever there is, let me know.  She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and I am grateful to have spent a little time with her.  Take care of yourselves.
