

Foo Shung “Frankie” Jung, 77, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born on December 12, 1947, in Canton, China, to the late Chew Fon and Sau (Soohoo) Jung.
Frankie earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Evansville. After a brief tenure as an electrical engineer at Whirlpool Corporation, he pursued his dream of entrepreneurship. In 1971, alongside his wife and parents, Frankie opened Shing-Lee Chinese Restaurant in Evansville. Over the next 52 years, Shing-Lee became a cherished part of the community and Evansville’s oldest Chinese restaurant. Frankie and his wife retired in 2023, grateful for decades of support from their loyal patrons.
Known for his hard work and creativity, Frankie found joy in painting, horse racing, and playing Mahjong with friends and family. He was a passionate basketball fan, cheering on Indiana University and sharing memorable moments attending University of Evansville basketball games with his sons.
Above all, Frankie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured time spent with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Yin Ling (Cheng) Jung; his sons, Clarence George Jung (Jenny) of Louisville, KY and Frank Martin Jung (Julie) of Evansville, IN and his grandchildren: Jesse Jung, Olivia Jung, Lauren Jung, Grace Jung, Maddox Jung, and Carson Jung. He is also survived by his sister, Polin Tang, and nephews: David Tang, Robert Tang, and Glenn Tang.
A funeral service to celebrate Frankie’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Frankie will be laid to rest at Park Lawn Cemetery following the service.
