G. Lloyd Benson

He started his career in the welding business with Lex Company, continued most of his career with Welder’s Supply and Hoprich Company, and then retired from Airgas Company in 1998. He continued operating Benson’s Welding Repair after retirement until recently. Lloyd was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed antique tractors and gardening on his property. He loved spending time with his grandson, Jerrod, who was very special to him. Lloyd will best be remembered for his outstanding knowledge, quick-wit attitude and always being ready to voice his opinion for what he believed in.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Clinton and Owen; and sister, Wanda.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Schutzius) Benson; son, Brien Benson; grandson, Jerrod Benson; beloved dogs, Beau and Toby; nieces, Donna Scott and Dianna (Roger) Hensley; and nephews, Deon “Skip” (Mary) Benson and John Benson.

Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 14, 2014, at Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, with burial to follow. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 West Illinois Street.
