She was born in Tennyson, IN and was raised in Evansville. She lived in Evansville until she married Charles “Roger” H. Cook in 1977. Glenda and Roger moved to Oceanside to be closer to Roger’s children. She was the only daughter of the late Norman L. and Eloise L. Skelton. Glenda loved her church family at First Baptist Church of San Luis Rey, CA. She loved the fellowship of the congregation and really enjoyed the pot luck dinners held on a regular basis at the church. Her neighbors were also a source of great pride. Many people on Magdalena Drive blessed Glenda with their friendship. While living in Southern California, Glenda became involved with the Set Free Ministries. She would witness to the Set Free members and on several occasions took less fortunate individuals under her wing and into her home. Many of these people considered Glenda as an adopted parent.
Glenda was the proud mother of three sons, Timothy (Teresa) Sartore of Richland City, IN, David (Sharon) Sartore of Henderson, KY and the late Philip Sartore. Glenda had a special connection with Philip who contracted polio at age three and was wheel chair bound for the remainder of his life. Philip passed on in April of 2009. She is also grandmother to four grandchildren, Jason and Bradley Sartore, who are the sons of Tim and Teresa, Cameron and Casey, who are the children of David and Sharon. Glenda was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Gabriel, who is the son of Jason. She has a younger brother, Norman R. (Lee) Skelton of Goldsboro, NC. Glenda and Roger had three special dachshunds. Tony, Brutus and DP were much more like family than they were pets. DP has been adopted by Tim and now resides in Indiana.
