Glynn Gauger, 89, of Evansville, joined his wife Nellie and son Darryl in Heaven, Monday, February 19, 2018. He was born September 4, 1928 in Meadville, MO to the late John and Stella June (Behymer) Gauger.
He served two years in the Army of which 18 months were in Germany as a truck driver and returned home in 1954. In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Nellie Griffin. They were married 61 years. As of that union, they had 5 children, Gene (Patty), Darryl, Roger (Kathy), Alan (Angie) and Karen (Steve Maurer). He loved his family very much. He retired in 1988 after working 32 years for Traylor Brothers and Industrial Contractors as a truck driver and a dispatcher in the plumbing department. He was a member of the OWLS Nest 30, SWIRCA, VFW Post #1114, and had the privilege to go on the Honor Flight of Southern Indiana. Glynn always put out a large garden. If he grew anything out of the ordinary, he would have it highlighted on a local news station. He spent many hours in his workshop making and repairing things, including making clocks and woodworking items. When he would make some little items, the kids would say, “Dad, you have too much time on your hands.” When the family had a building or remodeling project, he always wanted to be a part of it. Working with and doing things with his family was a big part of Glynn’s life.
He was preceded in death by stepmother, Hetty Gauger.
Glynn is survived by children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of West River Health Campus, Heritage Hospice and Dr. Thomas Waits.
