Hermus “Moose” Lewis, 81, of Evansville, IN passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1939. He was a member of Lessing Masonic Lodge 464, Hadi Shrine Temple, ROJ, JOW, Hadi Hospital Staff, Car Club, Motor Corp, HOG, lifetime member West Side Nut Club, 34 Select, and American Legion Funkhouser Post 8. Past memberships included Elks, Owls, and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid traveler, hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, loved growing his tomatoes and cabbage, and thoroughly enjoyed riding his Harley. Moose was a 1957 Reitz High School graduate. He founded HA Lewis Heating and Cooling, Inc. ie: Moose Lewis Heating Cooling, he left that business in 1997 and created Moose Lewis Contracting to continue in the heating and air conditioning business. Moose was a mover and shaker, if you needed something done, he made it happen. He owned and built many properties, most of them on the west side. He was a “Westsider” through and through. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved his big heart. Hermus was preceded in death by his parents, Hartley and Daisy Lewis; brothers, George “Cricket” Lewis and Jim Lewis. He is survived by his wife and partner of 31 years Joyce Anne (Reynolds) Lewis; son, Darren Lewis (Rachel); grandchildren, Austin and Parker Lewis; great grandchildren, Eli and Tinley Lewis; “adopted” daughter, Diana Wolf (Ed); sister-in-law, Sharon Lewis; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private graveside service will be at Calvin Cemetery where a Masonic Service will be conducted. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
