

Howard J. Meyer, 93, of Evansville, passed away at 7:15 AM on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Deaconess Hospice. He was born August 5, 1921 in Shoals, IN, to the late John Henry and Anna (Ziegler) Meyer.
He graduated from Shoals High School and Purdue University. He was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer since 2002. Howard worked as an agricultural extension agent for Purdue University in Daviess and Owen counties until he retired in 1982. During his retirement he loved working in his yard, Purdue sports, Cardinal baseball and spending time with his wife and family. He was a WII Veteran and was wounded during advanced training.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Arnetta Defibaugh, Helen Harding and Mary Mullen.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Louise (Greene) Meyer of Evansville; daughter, Debra K. (Raymond) Miller of Middlebury, IN; son, Mark J. (Deborah) Meyer of Evansville; grandson, Dax (Emily) Denton of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Evelyn Peek of Bloomington, IN; brother, Martin Meyer of Jasper, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 1811 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714, officiated by Rev. Tom Wenig, with burial in Goodwill Cemetery in Loogootee, IN. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel and Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
