

Jack D. Alexander, 93, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital. Jack was born in Herron, Illinois on September 28, 1923, to the late Elmer and Opal M. (Sisk) Alexander.
Jack retired from the CSX Railroad, formerly known as L&N Railroad, after 30 years. He was a bee keeper. He served three years in the US Army and was a Purple Heart recipient when he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. Jack was a former member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived his wife of 70 years, Chloe Alexander; daughters, Peg Barnett, Cindy (Bob) Martin; granddaughters, Lisa (Mike) Jarrell, Laura Barnett and Christy (Jason Phelps) Elmendorf; grandson, Neil (Tarah) Martin; great granddaughters, Hannah Martin, Skylar Phelps, Katherine and Elizabeth Jarrell; and great grandson, Alex Elmendorf; sister, Pat (Don) Tyler; and brother, Andy Alexander.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mark Lowe. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
