James K. Johnson

He served as Pastor at Fares Avenue Baptist Church for 29 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, worked at Whirlpool and Wesselman’s and was retired from the postal service. He enjoyed Gospel music all of his life and attended many concerts. He followed the Conquerors Quartet for many years. Bro. Jim loved everyone he ever met, witnessing to everyone about his Lord.

James was preceded in death by his father, William Johnson; and sister, Anna Burns.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Sue Johnson; mother, Virginia Johnson; daughters, Macey Uplinger and husband, Mark, and Billie Patterson and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Mark Jr. and Madelyn Uplinger and Grant Patterson; brothers, Kenneth and Lonnie Johnson; and sister, Cynthia Houts.

Services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Robert Nall, Rev. Delbert Bryant and Rev. John Horn, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Saturday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
