

Jamia Ann Schmitt, 78, of Evansville, IN passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Monday, April 8, 2024. She was born in Mt. Vernon, IN on July 21, 1945 to the late James C. and Lucy (Johnson) Bottomley.
She was a farm wife and did all the bookkeeping and worked side by side with her husband for many years. Jamia loved her grandchildren and was a hard worker.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Clero George Schmitt; sons, Charo G. Schmitt (Annette Lindsey), and Eric (Joanna) Schmitt; grandchildren, KateLynn Schmitt, Casey Schmitt, Emily Schmitt (Lucas Mayer), Holley Schmitt (Mike Thomas); great grandchildren, Carson Schmitt, Landon Yates; siblings, Donna Schut, Helen Kay, Trudy (John) Pryor, Cheryl (Cliff) Schauss, Michelle Bottomley; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their love and care.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and again at Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Drive on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A funeral service will follow the visitation on Monday at 11:00 am at Alexander Memorial Park.
