Jerry Thompson, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. He was born on Monday, March 1, 1937 in Oakland City, Indiana to Roy and Mildred (Ricketts) Thompson.
He retired from Whirlpool after 40 years where he was known as “Red Cap.” Jerry was a founding member of Good Shepherd Assembly of God and was on the Board of Directors for 25 years. He loved children and was known as the “Candy Man” at church. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed farming, raising hogs and cattle for several years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carla Gibbs; and sister, Sue Youngblood.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat; son, Jeremy Thompson (Ashley); grandchildren, Katrina Guynn (Wayne), Casey Marquis, Cody Thompson, and Dillinger Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Kinleigh, Wyatt, and Kaleena.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday February 15, 2020 at Good Shepherd Assembly of God/The Assembly, 4330 North Burkhardt Road, Evansville, Indiana with Rev. Glyn Pfhol officiating. Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery. Friends may visit on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel
