He was a patriot who loved his country and served in the USAF for over 25 years. He retired from Hill Air Force Base as a Senior Enlisted Advisor (Chief Master Sargent). After retirement he returned back to Evansville to be with his family.
On May 5, 1953, he married his sweetheart, Bonnie Barrett, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They were blessed with 5 children. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His passion was listening to and playing country music (Bar K Ranch Hands).
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Wales; grandsons, Christopher Wales and Clayton Francis Jr.; brothers, Herbert Barnett, Clarence “Butch” Barnett; and sisters, Ruby Hayden, Marjorie Lockyear, Vera Johnson and Mary Vincent.
He is survived by his sons, Herbert Barnett (Dolores) of Milton, FL, and Jimmie Barnett (Norma) of Evansville, IN; daughters, Laura Miller (Mark) of Clinton, Utah, and Rhonda Francis (Clay) of Coalville, Utah; sister, Rose M. Wright of Bourbonnais, IL; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
