Joan Phyllis Williams

Joan was a charter member of Varsity Club at USI, and was also a member of Traffic Club. She was an avid women’s basketball fan and sponsored women’s basketball players at USI. Joan was an active member of Simpson United Methodist Church and Laura/Martha Circle. She loved to read and play Scrabble.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Howard Williams, Jack Williams; sisters, Martha Jenkins, Virginia Martyn, and Dorothy Terrell.

Joan is survived by sister-in-law, Elgene Williams; nieces, Jeanne Stanley (Roy), Phyllis Hunt (Hugh), Nina Barker (Sam), Mary Beth Midle (Art), Karen Parrish (Mark), Jayne Seawright (David); nephews, Steve Martyn (Betty), Bob Terrell (Caryl), Mike Terrell, Tom Williams (Janice), Tim Williams (Johnnie), Johnny Williams (Lois), Jeff Williams (Linda), Greg Martyn (Bettye); and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00AM, Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Simpson United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Dennis Adams followed by entombment in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit, Friday, December 21, 2012, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Alexander West Chapel.
