Joanne M. Johnson

Joanne M. Johnson, 88, of Evansville, IN passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Woodmont Health Campus. She was born on November 10, 1937, in Evansville, IN to the late Wilfred B. and Edna H. (Bartels) Cravens.

She retired in 2009 from St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she was a Microbiologist for 36 years. Joanne graduated from Bosse High School in 1955. She went on to receive her Master of Arts from Indiana University in 1959, and her Master’s Degree from the University of Evansville in 1987. She was a member of the American Harp Society, North American Brass Band, Evansville Philharmonic, Newburgh Old Dam Community Band and Bend in the River Brass Band.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Cravens; and son, Dwayne Johnson.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Kelsey Wallen (Justin); great-granddaughter, Briella Wallen; grandson, DJ Kennedy; nephew, Daniel Cravens (Amy); nieces, Jennifer Boone and Sarah Goguen (Claude); along with many great nieces and great nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville, IN.
