John "Buggs" Richard Calhoun, Jr.

John “Buggs” Richard Calhoun, Jr.,76, of Evansville, began his journey home on Saturday, July 26, 2014, from Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center. John was faithful to the Marine Corps until he took his last breath.

He loved his family. Most importantly, John loved his relationship with his Jesus. He was proud to be a member of Forest Hills Wesleyan Church.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Loral Calhoun; son, John Richard Calhoun III; parents, John and Virginia Calhoun; brother, Bill Calhoun; and sisters, Alice Wattam and Carol Calhoun.

He is survived by his son, Kevin (Wendy) Calhoun; daughters, Shirley (Roger) P’Pool and Tammy Calhoun Gold; grandchildren, Loral “Ginny” Calhoun and Maya Deisher; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Fletcher, Xavier Calhoun and Michael Eastwood; and two sisters, Olga Effinger and Edna McKnight.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Forest Hills Wesleyan Church, 2801 Claremont Avenue, officiated by Rev. Mike Stoelting, with burial in Tupman Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 West Illinois Street, and Tuesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.
