John P. McGinnis

He was a US Army WWII Veteran and a member of the Field Artillery. He was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He worked in maintenance for Amoco Oil Co. for 36 years and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed family outings, camping and fishing. He loved spending time and talking with his friends and neighbors.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lillian McGinnis, on December 2, 2010; brothers, James, Earl and Leslie McGinnis; and sister, Doxie Chastain.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Peters; sons, Edward E. McGinnis (Peggy L.), David A. McGinnis, all of Evansville, and Wesley P. McGinnis (Carolyn), of Richland, IN; grandchildren, Matthew, John, Sara, Jessica, Steven, Thomas, Amy, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jerry and Lee; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ora Lee Price of Redford, MI; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Maurice Melton with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
