Judy Reuter

Judith “Judy” Arlene Reuter, 84, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at West River Health Campus. She was born on March 9, 1939, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Joseph Brandon and Margaret B. (Diamond) Gatewood.

She was to married the love of her life, Ed in 1958. They had 3 children and opened their home to multiple family members, friends and foster children. She collected everything she took a fancy to, but was partial to clowns. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, cards; especially clabber and hand & foot. She worked outside the home for 8 years as assistant manager of the cafeteria at Kmart on St. Joe Avenue. Her personal motto was, "There is always room for ice cream."

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ed; sister, Mary Harris; and brother, Joseph "Jay" Gatewood.

Judy is survived by her children, Dale Reuter, Janet (Jeff) Buente and Charles (Lori) Reuter; grandchildren, Sara Buente, Rachel Buente, Damien (Libby) Tieken, Zach Tieken, Natalie (Craig) Paul, Katy Reuter, Drew Reuter, Haley Reuter and eight great grandchildren; siblings: Margie Reisinger, Pearl Cummings, JoAnn Kelley, James "Bud" Gatewood (Ann), Charlene McCallister and Janet Kinney; sisters-in-law, Doris Gatewood and Rosie Reuter; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Judy and Ed were also foster parents to nine children.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Alexander West Chapel, Evansville, IN.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Art Christmas. Entombment will follow at Alexander Memorial Park.
