Julia Wood

Julia was a lifelong member of Bethany Christian Church. She was a very proud member of the Central High School Class of 1949. Julia almost always had at least one cat to love. She loved to read and loved hummingbirds and butterflies. Julia always was completing a jigsaw puzzle, filled many word search books, and was a genealogy buff. She was an avid Indiana Pacers and Colts fan. Julia worked on the CHS Class of 1949 reunion committee and was a D.A.R Member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Wood; sister, Ruth Erk; and grandson, Kyle Hester.

Julia is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hester (Robert); son, John Wood; grandchildren, Kevin Hester (Jennifer), Holly Wood (Austen), Raistlin Wood; great-grandchildren, Ethel, Zeke, Olivia and Lukas.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 with Rev. Michelle Brown officiating. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Friday. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
