Kahari “Hobby” Malik Lowery, 15, of Manhattan, KS, formerly of Evansville, was born at just 27 weeks on July 20, 2001, in Evansville, to Erika (Richardson) and Chris Lowery, Sr.; joining a family that would grow to include a brother, CJ, and two sisters, Lexis and Jazmin. He defied all expectations and survived numerous medical procedures, life-threatening events, and other obstacles, to enjoy 15 years on this earth. He was a joyful child who traveled all over the country, from New York to Hawaii and many places in between, and will forever be remembered not just for his own amazing smile, but the smiles he brought to the faces of everyone who ever met him (as well as his impeccable style!). His joy was infectious and unforgettable, touching the lives of everyone he met.
He enjoyed all things sweet, especially chocolate, Kool-Aid, and ice cream. He loved Sponge Bob Square Pants, his favorite movie was Happy Feet, and he adored penguins. He enjoyed going to his dad’s basketball games, and was a big fan of the Cubs and the Golden State Warriors. The seaside was an especially happy place for him.
Kahari left this world just as he entered it --- far too soon. Kahari passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, with his mother by his side.
He is survived by his parents; siblings; grandmothers, Dorothy Richardson and Candace Lowery; great-grandmother, Imogene Lowery; great-grandfather, Jerry Lowery; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends; and his beloved dog, BoBo.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Larry A. Rascoe, Sr., with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics in memory of Kahari. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
