Kenneth “Ken” Hart, 65, of Evansville, IN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at his home. He was born in Hopkinsville, KY on March 24, 1960 to the late Norma Christine Johnson and James Edward Mills.
Ken was employed for 27 years with the former Alcoa Warrick Operations, now Kaiser Aluminum. A 1979 graduate of Christian County High School, he was a standout athlete and key member of the Colonels’ state runner-up basketball team. He went on to play collegiate basketball at Texas Christian University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
A member of The Dwelling Place in Evansville (formerly Church of the Harvest), Ken dedicated his life to his family and to those around him. To know Ken was to love him—but it was his warm spirit and gentle heart that truly ministered to and uplifted everyone he met. He never met a stranger. Whether at the gas station, grocery store, restaurant, or a ball game, Ken had a gift for connection and a familiar way of asking with a smile, “Now, where are you from, and who are your people?”
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother; “Aunt Jennie”, who helped raise him; siblings Keith A. Hart, Donald Southern, Jr., and Marsha D. Southern.
Ken is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lekita (Tyler) Hart and their children, daughter, Nacole C. Hart; son, Kente X. Hart; daughter, Khristian Y. Hart-Choate (Tyler). He also leaves behind daughters Ashlee Greene and Kalisha Renea-Bingham; grandchildren; brothers Phillip A. Hart (Patricia), Willie M. Hart, Jr. (Stephanie), Chris Hart (Stephanie), Bobby Spikes; sisters Gwendolyn Johnson Banger (Sam), Carmen Mills Shabazz, Theresa Howard, Karen Minor-Hudson (Gary), Angela Mills Johnson (John), Ashley Love Mills, Elizabeth Rose (John); a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Ronald Norman (Ann).
