

He graduated from Bosse High School and moved to San Diego, CA at the age of 17. Lee worked for Lockheed Skunk Works on the SR71 reconnaissance aircraft. From there he went to work for North American Rockwell. Lee was on the team responsible for building the Apollo Command Modules. He then moved back to Evansville in 1977 and worked for Ron Collins Aviation, where he finished his career. Lee loved fishing, college basketball and football, Butterfinger Blizzards, and Wheel of Fortune.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and loving wife of 43 years, Carol L. Tippett.
He is survived by his children, Bruce Tippett and Dennis Tippett (Marcia); grandchildren, Josh Tippett, Sierra Tippett, and Carrie Bradshaw (Jeffery); great-grandchildren, Ian Tippett, Joseph Bradshaw, Jeremiah Bradshaw, and Carolyne Bradshaw; sisters, Jeanette Cole and Nancy Tate; long-term friend and companion, Rita Hale; niece, Anita Ice (Mark); and many cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St. in Evansville and officiated by Pastor Cliff Herring. Entombment will follow in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026 and from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
