Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel
Linda Lee Burton, 82, passed away January 8, 2021 from complications due to a stroke.
Linda was a dedicated, lifelong member of the Southwest Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She graduated from F.J. Reitz high school, and went to Herrin Art School in Indianapolis to study studio art and drafting. Before beginning a family, she worked for International Steel as a draftsman.
As a lifelong pursuit, Ms. Burton painted peaceful, realistic landscapes and portraits of her loved ones. Her love for pop music was evidenced by her painting a life-size portrait of Elvis on her bedroom wall when she was sixteen, along with a claim to have melted a “Heartbreak Hotel” single by playing it over and over. Linda also enjoyed traveling and taking photographs for inspiration. Her family and friends will miss her sly sense of humor, her kindness and generosity, plus her sparky demeanor.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Gray Burton; mother and father, Helen and Daniel “Tucker” Bloemen; sister, Gayle Dewitt; brothers, Robert and Daniel Bloemen; and granddaughter, Kari.
She will be remembered fondly by her children, Sunny, Michael, and Jay Burton, and Kelly Robinson; her grandchildren, Karen Barrett, Candace Foster, Treavor, Jay Jr., Justin, and Sarah Burton, Micah Baumann, Jaclyn Costello, Rikki Schmiechen, Joshua, Anna, and Ben Grossman; and her great grandchildren, Kelly-Anne, Walter, Maysi, Warren, Brody, Kasher, Ava, Corina, Alexavier, Maximilian, and Beauregard; and her cat Meow-meow.
Private family services will be held.
