Early Saturday morning, April 30, Linda’s Lord and Savior, the one she read and studied and sang about and prayed to so faithfully, said, “My child it’s time to come home.” Her joy can only be imagined when she saw Jesus face to face. Bro. Terry’s words: “As sudden as this was, my tears are because I miss her and feel so lost without her, but I rejoice in the 49 wonderful years God has blessed us with. Thanks to all who have reached out to us. Please remember me and our family and Linda’s family in prayer and let us all spend time rejoicing in her life.”
Linda was born on October 17, 1949, to Betty and Ewin Brame, Jr. She was raised by her wonderful Mom and devoted Father, Al Schutte.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Al Schutte, a brother, Eddie and a sister, Jane. She is survived by her husband, Bro. Terry Gamblin; their two sons; Ryan and Todd; two grandchildren, (her pride and joy) Axton and Ady Jo; her mother, Betty Schutte and siblings, Beth (Mike) Carlin, Fran, Butch, Mark and Angie. She is also survived by her wonderful aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
Linda attended the Old Centennial Grade School, where in the second grade a wonderful teacher so touched her heart that she became a teacher herself. Linda was proud to be a graduate of F. J. Reitz High School, Class of 67, and loved working on the class reunions. She attended the University of Southern Indiana and graduated in the first class on campus. The graduation was held on the front lawn that year.
Linda worked for the Henderson County School System her entire teaching career, teaching in Corydon, Ben Gate and many years at Seventh Street Schools. She dearly loved the children, parents and all the wonderful people she worked with.
Linda never met a stranger and lit up the room with her love and sincere Christian spirit. She loved those at her swimming aerobics at Deaconess and also those at the Y. Her Kairos group also held a special place in her heart.
Bro. Terry and Linda met in their Senior Review Class at Reitz High School.
Bro. Terry has been the pastor of Howell General Baptist Church for 32 years, and the church has been blessed to have Linda as the First Lady of the church. During these years, she has served on the Board of Directors, led Junior Worship, taught the Joy Sunday School Class. She has also been a part of the Challenger Class, the Church Choir, and the Queen Esther Missionary Society. Linda loved the Lord with all her heart and was a faithful prayer warrior, always sending up those “popcorn” prayers for every need. Her special prayer to everyone today is, I Love You Oodles!
