Loraine L. Layson

Loraine was an elevator operator at the old Courthouse and a cook at the Vanderburgh County Jail.

She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Come Double Sunday School Class. Loraine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Loraine was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lazarus Layson; brothers, Carl, Walter, Anthony, and Edward Weber; sisters, Marie Hensz, Lydia Veeck, Anna Matilda Zubiller, and Frieda Merrick.

She is survived by her son, Robert Layson; daughter, Nancy Burke and husband Donald; grandchildren, Bart Burke and wife Sarah, and Ashley Burke; great-granddaughter, Olivia Loraine; sister, Kathryn Edmonson; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 8, 2010, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Dr. George A. Huffsmith with burial at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
